I'm ready for Autumn. This is me doing a heck of a lot of wishful thinking and suspension of disbelief and living in Autumn. The grey skies helped, as did that one tree in my backyard whose leaves are turning yellow and falling already. I admit, I've worn this outfit--the dress/leggings/scarf combo--several times. I just love it, and fun as these leggings are, they were not a practical buy (though I got them BOGO, which negates practicality).

I like the idea that this dress was something somebody else bought on vacation then deemed inappropriate for her real, non-vacation life and gave away. I'm okay being the woman who wears other women's vacation clothes. My friend, Ashley, brought back the Tinkerbell necklace I'm wearing from a family trip to Disney World in middle school. That a pre-teen at the so-called Most Magical Place on Earth thought to bring back a present for me is just toothache sweet. I still wear it proudly.

As I swished through the house getting ready to leave for work, Wolfman told me, "You look like a witch." That's high praise. I've worn this dress to celebrate solstices and weddings (you can see here and here), and now to mark my first week as a full-time employee at this little shop I'm in love with (I really am). The boots are another much-beloved piece of my wardrobe. Every time I wear them they get compliments--they're scuffed and loud and soulful--they look like they were worn on the job. But, no, they've just been worn by my swanky grandma and then me, walking in them miles and miles every autumn and winter, then resoling them every spring.
